The Showgirl Trail
Editorial ReviewEditorial Review
1. Start the day reflecting in church - but not any place of worship; head down to the Holy Trinity Church in Church Road, Doncaster, the site of THE wedding between Charlene and Scott back in 1987. Better still, get married there yourself.
2. Reminisce on those carefree days of youth. If you can't face your old teachers, have a look at where Kylie spent her tortuous teen years (when she wasn't filming) at Camberwell High School, Prospect Hill Road, Canterbury.
3. After lunch, have a mansion-moment and check out one of Kylie's investments, like the squillion dollar house she bought her folks at Monomeath Avenue, Canterbury.
4. You gotta swing your hips now…The next stop on our Showgirl tour is Festival Hall, Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne. It was here that Kylie sang The Locomotion in 1986 - a semi-rehearsed version with some Neighbours buddies. The song propelled her into pop stardom.
5. Wind up the day on Ramsay Street with a Neighbours tour and see where Charlene's overalls started out. On Monday nights also test your knowledge at a Neighbours Trivia Night or finish up the working week with a Neighbours Bingo and Karaoke Bash (summer only). And if you're tired of all this Kylie-Melbourne stuff, you'll be pleased to know that Neighbours nights have gone global and spread their suburban joy to the Coolabar in Sydney for a special show on 29 June '08.
To complete your day, you'll need to know where Kylie's pop-tastic outfits are housed (including those gold hotpants). Click here to find out.
