Editorial Review
Without doubt, Mitchell Street is where the party's at. Bars, clubs, bar/clubs and, umm, convenience stores keep the pulsing heart of our city's music and nightlife beating into the early hours, and great live music is but a stone's throw to the next rowdy venue. But there are more than just these reasons to take a stroll down the strip. Numbering among them is The Tap. A simple name, for a simple philosophy: cold beer and a place to park your bones. Add to this a goo d feed and you almost have the perfect marriage - if only The Tap were a dame!
A rustic, brick exterior offers the prime setting for the nice, relaxing beer garden, overlooked by a grand, old Melaleuca tree. A meeting place for locals and a nice oasis of charm from the rest of the throbbing bars and clubs, The Tap prides itself in no-fuss service, a decent bar menu (nachos, wedges, fish and chips etc) and ice-cold beverages - as you'd want for this warmer clime. And as the name implies, tap beers are a favourite here - VB, Carlton Draught, Coopers Pale, Cascade to name but a few.
On those balmy nights you'll find the stainless steal tables outside packed with groups of revellers (and the occasional hen's night), all throwing back illusion shakers like it's 1997 again. Truly, such wild abandon has to been seen to be believed.
