When faced with a myriad of drinking, dining and dancing options, it's only natural to choose the path of least resistance. For most people any inner-city bar will do, as they get liquored up and hit the dancefloor or a nice chaise lounge. But for those of us willing to travel a little out of the way - in this case, right next door to Kitty O'Shea's - the endeavour can be worth it. Finding a live music venue as opposed to an ??iPod shuffle' venue is the booze hound's ultimate Holy Grail.
A stone's throw from Bicentennial Park, the Rox Music Lounge is every bit its namesake: part music joint, part lounge bar, all salubrious destination, this bar has done quite well for itself. While some people might mumble ?Great. Another music venue for our city ...' through their sarcastic beards, the rest of us are living it up to live rock, funk and retro hits, played by the nation's finest acts. With resident bands and DJs playing right throughout the evening, you'd be hard pressed to find a reason to leave - bumping into an ?ex' being the exception.
Behind the bar you'll find a vast array of anti-sober remedies. From a mighty selection of tap beers (Guinness, Stella, Carlton Draught et al) to a primo (read: nice, but won't blow your pants off) selection of wines, the Rox has many bases covered. Or is that, many amps broken?
