Editorial ReviewEditorial Review
It's full steam ahead for Sea Patrol, the popular Australian drama that has just commenced production of its third season in Far North Queensland.
The Nine Network announced that the new season, officially titled Sea Patrol 3 - Red Gold, will chart the course of the Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Hammersley as its crew protects Australia's coastline.
Sea Patrol favourites including XO Kate McGregor (Lisa McCune, who scored a Logie nomination for the role in 2008), CO Mike Flynn (Ian Stenlake) and NO Nikki Caetano (Saskia Burmeister) will all return, while season three's guest stars include Tasma Walton (Blue Heelers), Blair McDonough (Neighbours) and Jessica Napier (McLeod's Daughters).
Nine is thrilled to be embarking on the production of series three of Sea Patrol," said the network's head of drama Jo Horsburgh. "We look forward to presenting this outstanding drama on the network in early 2009."
Executive producer Di McElroy offered only a tiny clue about the plotlines of the upcoming season, revealing that that the title Red Gold refers to "to the deep-sea red fan coral whose weight is worth more than gold".
